German Bier Trip

It should come as no surprise to those who know me that (to quote Tom T. Hall) "I like beer".  Karen and I visited  with friends last May who are living in Germany.  We had the opportunity to try German bier at the site where each bier is brewed.  We were, to say the least, truly excited.  It would turn out to be the neatest trip we have ever taken.  Here are a few pictures of the our trip to Germany, my first excursion to that most hallowed shrine of bier.  This page is dedicated to Charles and Brenda Collins who are spending three years in Hessdorf, Germany, and who made the trip for Karen and me a possibility and a pleasure.  Prosit!

Erlangen and Rothenburg.  Every bier has its own kind of drinking vessel.

Evidence of romance, engendered by bier.

Prague, Czech Republic.  The picture on the coaster is of the original Budweiser bier, brewed in Czechoslovakia since the early 1600's.  Strong bier will make people do foolish things, like wearing funny hats, forgetting how to count money, and grinning at cameras!

At Brenda and Charlie's house, or at a nearby biergarten, indoors or out, bier in Germany is a wonderful treat. Especially with friends.

Karen likes the exercise involved in carrying the special, economy-sized liters of bier, two at a time.

"Now how does Spaaten compare with...what was that other one"?  Bier is kinda like some of those other things that we love in life. the worst I've ever had was wonderful.

To bier, or not to bier, that is the question.  That, and exactly how many of those Euro thingies do I need for another round?
